GEG deployed A TWO-PERSON TRAINING TEAM TO JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA TO SUPPORT WHO TRAINING ON EMERGENCY RESPONSE SOPS
Background: As a part of its global reform efforts, WHO seeks to strengthen its ability to respond to emergencies in rapidly changing environments with professionalism and agility.
Requirement: The design, development and delivery of a workshop on WHO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in Emergencies for Operations Officers, held in Johannesburg, South Africa in October 2017. The training included an additional requirement of production of a Facilitators Guide for future standard workshops.
GEG Contribution: GEG, in close consultation and collaboration with the WHO Health Emergencies Program (WHE), developed a workshop based on the Emergency Response Framework and senior management directives. Upon completion, GEG sent a two-person team to Johannesburg, South Africa to support and co-facilitate the training of WHO officers in SOPs for health emergency response. Following the workshop GEG designed a Facilitators Guide for future use by of both internal WHO and external consultant facilitators, in close collaboration with the WHE Management and Administration Department.
